5th grade science fair, 5th grade science

Hi Parents and students:
For science fair, the corrections for the review of literature are due tomorrow.  On Monday they should turn in a rough draft of the title page and the results.  Please refer to an older post as to what that entails.

We took a quiz today so there is no homework for tonight!

Today's lesson had to do with the order of operations (PEMDAS) and signed numbers.  When numbers have negative signs, it becomes critical to know how to apply those signs correctly along with performing the oder of operations correctly.  This can be difficult because it is detail-oriented.  However, This concept is a major part of any algebra class and is critical to learn.  I will be giving the students homework over the weekend from the supplemental practice section so they can work on the past two new concepts.

The homework for tonight is L. 85 - Practice problems e-f and Mixed practice #15 - 30.  They can do the practice problems a-d for bonus points.

There will be a test tomorrow.  The students should review  the following lessons for the test:  L. 19, L. 26, 28, 30, 34, 48, 52, 53, and lessons 65 - 80.

Thanks,
Mrs. W

I hope you all had a blessed Easter and Easter break.  The resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is central to everything we believe as Christians.

We read section 6.6 today and the homework is to do that comprehension check.  There were two worksheets that were given out before break.  Some students forgot to do them, others left them somewhere, while some did have them finished and ready to be graded.  We will grade these on Thursday.  There will also be a quiz on Thursday over pages 137 - 148.  Please help them study for this quiz.

Thanks,
Mrs. W

Homework for tonight is to read section 7.1 and do the comp check as well as reproduce the picture of the sun with all the labels and colors that is at the top of page 181.

5th grade science fair, 5th grade science

The Chapter Check Up is due on Wednesday and the test for Chapter 5 will take place on Thursday.

I understand that some of the students did not understand what I meant when I said I wanted to see a table for their science fair experiment.  They haven't done the experiments yet so what I want to see is a device where they can add the numbers, whether height, length, days, time, temperature, when they start their experiment.  It is important that this table is ready before they start.

Thanks,
Mrs. W

Because of the Iowa tests, I won't have this class again until Wednesday.  They have homework in the form of L. 81 #1-24 all.

Sorry to all who were inconvenienced by not having a blog yesterday.  I went home early and dived back into bed and didn't give school another thought.

Section 5.7 and the Comp Check are the homework for tonight.

Today we discussed the Materials and Methods of Procedure sections of the science fair project.  We will have a work day tomorrow, so if you get this message, please talk about the actual running of the experiment with your student so you both have an idea of the materials needed and what steps will be taken during the experiment.

Thanks,
Mrs. W

There is a test tomorrow covering many lessons, but none more recent than L. 75.  I gave the students the list of lessons that the test would be over and we were able to get to all but about the last six lessons or so.
